How is a legal abortion performed?
in a safe clinic?
If a woman decides to terminate her pregnancy in Mexico City, before undergoing any procedure, she must attend a medical evaluation where the doctor will perform an ultrasound to confirm the weeks of gestation, prepare a medical history and determine lifestyle.
The doctor specializing in legal abortion will provide detailed information on the procedures authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) that are used according to the health condition of each woman, as well as the risks and consequences; in addition to resolving all her doubts. With the intention that the patient asserts her rights by making a decision in a free, responsible and informed manner.

How much does ILE cost in CDMX?

The AMEU procedure with local anesthesia or sedation ranges from $2,800 to $10,000.

Ways to terminate a pregnancy legally and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO):
Legal termination of pregnancy by combined medication (pills)
When you go to the ILE clinic, you are given the medication to terminate the pregnancy. You take it at home, and the medication causes contractions that lead to the interruption in the form of bleeding, similar to menstruation.
Legal termination of pregnancy by manual endouterine aspiration (AMEU)
It is necessary to go to a medical consultation at an ILE clinic , then a medication is given to dilate the cervix, and the patient goes to the procedure room where aspiration is performed through cannulas.
How long does it take to terminate a pregnancy with pills or a surgical procedure (AMEU)?
If the procedure is done by pills: 15 days. Total stay in the clinic is 60-90 minutes.
If the procedure is by endouterine aspiration: 10-15 minutes. Total stay in the clinic of 3-4 hours.
What is the difference between manual uterine aspiration (MAU) with local anesthesia and with sedation?
ILE by aspiration can be performed with local anesthesia or sedation to mitigate any pain or discomfort.
In the MVA procedure with local anesthesia, the attending physician is responsible for injecting the anesthesia into the cervix. The patient remains awake during the procedure.
During MVA with sedation , the patient is questioned by an anesthesiologist in order to administer the medication and the appropriate amount of it. The medication is placed intravenously in the hand or arm and the patient remains asleep for 10 to 15 minutes, which is the approximate duration of the procedure. The patient does not feel any discomfort or pain.
